Boris Backer was launched in the autumn of 2010 with the primary – but not sole – aim of helping Boris Johnson get re-elected as Mayor of London in 2012. Readers will find here thoughts and opinions on the capital’s politics, the mayoral election campaign, on Boris, Ken and the other candidates, as well as regular musings and conjecture on national politics, current affairs, political betting and other general nonsense. The blog was voted the 12th best Conservative blog in the UK in the 2011 Total Politics Blog Awards.

The author is an avid Boris-ite, liberal Conservative, Tory party member, politics graduate, prolific cider drinker and utter curmudgeon, whose interests include politics, current affairs, country pubs, live sport, comedy, books, letters, skiing, cider, the countryside and win-win situations. The author’s dislikes include apathy, big government, intolerance, pessimism, socialism, speed cameras, weather forecasts and Ed Balls.

The views expressed within this blog are entirely personal and do not necessarily reflect those of either the author’s employers or the official Back Boris 2012 campaign.

The author enjoys writing about himself anonymously in the third-person.
